43. MODERATION IN FOOD AND DRINK

Islam promotes healthy living including moderation in the intake of halal food and halal drink, avoiding greed and consuming only what are needed to maintain strength, energy and healthy bodies.

This is accordance with the guidance of Allah SWT in the Al-Qur'an

"...Eat and Drink: but waste not by excess, for Allah loves not the wasters." [ al-A'raf 7:31 ]

Rasullulah s.a.w further explained the concept of moderation in the consumption of food and drink:

" There is no worse vessel for the son of Adam to fill than his own stomach, but if he must fill it, then let him allow one third for food, one third for drink and one third for air." as shahih al- Tarmidhi.
